46 weeks to race day: base season

Plenty of runway. This far out, the win is a boring, consistent base rhythm: aerobic volume, strength, technique. The structured 12-week block starts later; what you do now decides how high it can climb.

R
Recover
Fix the nervous system first. Sleep, HRV, and the noise out.
A
Align
Fit the plan to your actual life, not the one you wish you had.
C
Condition
Minimum effective dose. The right sessions, done fresh.
E
Execute
Race-week protocol, pacing, contingency. Nothing new on race day.

Building for this one? 70.3 training plan covers the sessions, the weekly shape and how the block is paced. The R.A.C.E. Framework explains why it is built that way.

Abraham Spring, founder of Unbroken

“The northern leg of the Castle Series. Same formula as Hever: a beautiful estate, every distance on one weekend, and a race the whole family can enter.”

The race

Cholmondeley runs the Castle Series formula in the north: a lake swim inside a private estate, rolling countryside on the bike and a run through the castle parkland. Distances span sprint to half, plus junior races, so a whole club or family can race the same weekend at whatever level suits. Less hilly than Hever and a good deal quieter than the southern rounds.
