8 weeks to race day: a full block fits

This is the sweet spot. A complete 12-week recovery-led build fits inside your runway with room for a base phase in front. Anchor the block to this date and every week between now and then has a reason.

R
Recover
Fix the nervous system first. Sleep, HRV, and the noise out.
A
Align
Fit the plan to your actual life, not the one you wish you had.
C
Condition
Minimum effective dose. The right sessions, done fresh.
E
Execute
Race-week protocol, pacing, contingency. Nothing new on race day.

Building for this one? Ironman training plan covers the sessions, the weekly shape and how the block is paced. The R.A.C.E. Framework explains why it is built that way.

“One of the fastest full distance courses anywhere and it sits late enough in the season to be the end point of a long build. If you want a number, come here.”

The race

Barcelona, raced out of Calella about 50km up the coast, is where European athletes go for a fast time. The swim is warm Mediterranean water in three loops. The bike is three 60km laps of smooth coastal road with only around 770m of climbing, so aero position and steady watts do the work. The run is three flat laps along the seafront. Late season timing makes it the natural target for a summer of building.
